A4TE wasformed by the recent merger of the National Center for Transgender Equality and Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund.  A4TE is the largest national organization focused on transgender issues.  Their work is focused on political and electoral causes.

Provides legal assistance in cases where it considers civil liberties at risk, including for LGBT people. The ACLU recently has filed lawsuits to allow transgender people to get passports that match their gender identity and to allow transgender youth to continue to receive gender affirming care.

Equality Illinois is our state’s largest political action group.  They advocate passing laws to help LGBT people and help get supportive candidates elected. Among laws they successfully lobbied for is a law to make it easier for transgender people to change their name.

Since 1978, GLAD Law has achieved legal victories to end discrimination based on sexual orientation, HIV status, and gender identity and expression. GLAD Law recently filed suit to block a transgender women from being transferred to male prison after a Trump Executive Order. They also filed a lawsuit on the behalf transgender people so they can serve in the US military.

GLMA is an organization of health professionals to ensure the health and well-being of LGBTQ+ individuals and families.  GLMA mainly educates health professionals and advocates for LGBTQ+ inclusive health policies.  Recently they filed a lawsuit with the ACLU and PFLAG to stop a recent executive order banning gender affirming care for trans youth younger than 19.

HRC is the nation’s largest LGBTQ+ civil rights organization. HRC works to get LGBTQ+ candidates elected and to demand equity-based policies and legislation from elected officials and companies.
